Even though QuickTime is said to support MP4 format, sometimes we still have some MP4 files which can't be played in QuickTime. For QuickTime only support MP4 encoded with MPEG-4 or H.264. However, MP4 is a complex video container which may include other video codec which are not supported by QuickTime.
